Home Inspections | How Long Does a Home Inspection Take?
Home Inspections | The process of purchasing a home can take much longer than originally anticipated.
Prospective buyers can get easily overwhelmed in trying to juggle the process of buying a home while also finishing their other responsibilities. Some home inspectors may offer a quick turnaround but don’t always spend the needed time in fully inspecting a home. Make sure to follow these tips when choosing a quality home inspector:
Not a Selling Point
Rushed home inspections may be convenient but they can lead to missed problems and mistakes. Think twice about home inspectors that routinely boast about how quickly they can get the job done. Buying a home is an extremely important financial decision and there is no need to rush. It is important to find a home inspector that can schedule your home inspection
in an adequate amount of time. However, it is more important that the inspection is done right the first time and that nothing is missed.
A General Average
Unfortunately, we can’t pin down exactly how long your home inspection is going to take as there are too many variables at play. The size of the house, the design of the house, and any unique features can all contribute to how long the process will take. With that said, a ‘typical’ home will generally require somewhere in the neighborhood of two to three hours to inspect while the official home inspection report can take a few days to write.
Should I Attend?
You don’t have to attend your home inspection but doing so is highly recommended. This inspection is for your benefit and being present will be far more informative than simply reading the report after the work is completed. This is a great time to learn about your new home and to know the unique things that you may have to deal with in the future. Do your best
to make the time in your schedule for this important appointment.
